Vision Technicians provide screenings to children in schools throughout Ingham County. Grades screened include:

• Preschool 
• Pre-kindergarten 
• Kindergarteners not tested prior to entering school 
• First grade 
• Third grade 
• Fifth grade 
• Seventh grade 
• Ninth grade 
• Contained special education 
• Any children who received a referral in the past

Parents/guardians are notified of the outcome of the screening. Children who are unable to pass the screening are asked to follow up with area Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. The Vision Screening Program requests confirmation from the parent/guardian that the child has received follow-up care.
