ICHD to increase COVID-19 vaccination opportunities in their clinics and in the community through the end of the year

LANSING, Mich. – Last week the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized and recommended the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents ages 5-11 years old. The COVID-19 vaccine age eligibility adjustment has resulted in an increased demand for vaccine in Ingham County.

In recognizing this demand, the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD) has opened more COVID-19 vaccine clinic dates and appointments at the health department and is collaborating with community partners to take the COVID-19 vaccine into Ingham County. ICHD and the Ingham Intermediate School District have worked together to plan vaccination events in local school districts. Specific information about your district’s vaccination event will be communicated from your school district.

“We are grateful that parents are eager to help protect their kids from getting and spreading COVID-19,” said Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail. “We want families and their children to have the support and resources to find the COVID-19 vaccine throughout the Ingham County community.”

The ICHD COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at the Ingham County Health Department (5303 S. Cedar St, Lansing) has opened more clinics dates and appointments. Appointments are now offered some Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays through December 28th with appointments from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment, visit http://hd.ingham.org/coronavirus/r_1013.aspx or call 517-887-4623 for assistance.

Detailed information regarding dates and locations of the ICHD vaccine clinic, Ingham Community Health Center vaccine clinics, and community vaccination opportunities can be found in the ICHD COVID-19 Vaccination Opportunities document. ICHD will continue to update our website and social media as new vaccination events are planned.
