Ingham Community Health Centers Celebrate National Health Center Week

LANSING, Mich. – The Ingham Community Health Centers joins a nationwide network of federally-recognized health centers in celebrating National Health Center Week, August 7-13. Community members are invited to join the festivities for Patient Appreciation Day.  

Community health and human service organizations will be in attendance offering family activities, health screenings and vaccinations, giveaways, and more at the celebration to be held at Forest Community Health Center located at 2316 S. Cedar Street in Lansing on Wednesday, August 10, from 10 AM - 2 PM.

“Ingham Community Health Centers are a tremendous asset to our community by offering comprehensive, affordable, and quality care to people regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay,” said Ingham County Health Officer Linda S. Vail. “This week and every week, we celebrate the patients, staff, and stakeholders of our Community Health Centers.”

Health centers started over 55 years ago and serve as the medical home to nearly 29 million people of all ages across the United States. Today, they have compiled a significant record of success that includes: 

•           Producing $24 billion in annual health system savings

•           Reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to the emergency room

•           Treating patients for a fraction of the average cost of one emergency room visit

•           Maintaining patient satisfaction levels of nearly 100 percent

•           Generating $26.5 billion in economic activity and over 230,000 jobs

•           Reducing infant mortality rates 

“Ingham Community Health Centers are proud to provide access to care at 11 locations and offer a range of services including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, school-based/linked health, dental, pharmacy, enabling service, and specialty care,” said Kris Drake, MHA, FACHE, Deputy Health Officer and Executive Director of Ingham Community Health Centers. “National Health Centers Week allows us to share our commitment to providing the best experience through people-centered care to the community we serve.”

National Health Center Week, “The Chemistry for Strong Communities,” is observed nationwide. Intended to increase awareness and community support, Ingham Community Health Centers will be celebrating throughout the week, hosting events including Stakeholder Appreciation Day, Healthcare for the Homeless, and Staff Appreciation Day.
