Parents and Guardians

You want to find the best care that is available for your child, whether you are looking for typical child care, odd hour or week-end care, have a child with special needs, or just need back up child care plans. The Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing require that child care providers meet the general standards of quality, but only you, the parent or guardian can decide which care is the best for your child. The Ingham County Health Department Office for Young Children (OYC) is now officially a partner of the Great Start Child Care and Early Learning Central Regional Resource Center. The Central RRC covers 10 counties: Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Ionia, Shiawassee, Gratiot, Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Midland. The Early Childhood Investment Corporation has developed a new statewide database system so that parents will be able to search for registered and licensed child care providers on line.

The State of Michigan Bureau of Child And Adult Licensing (BCAL) maintains a computerized listing of registered Family Child Care Homes, licensed Group Child Care Homes, and licensed Child Care Centers, Preschools, Before and After School programs, Head Start programs, and Great Start School Readiness programs.
Disclaimer Statement: OYC does not license nor inspect child care providers, so OYC can not assure the quality of the care they provide. The names of child care providers are generated from a list of child care providers that are registered or licensed with the Sate of Michigan. OYC strongly urges you to screen, visit and choose a provider who you determine offers appropriate child care. OYC staff are Mandated Reporters by Law and must report any suspected child abuse/neglect.
