Information about NorovirusThe Health Department continues to receive reports of gastrointestinal illness circulating in the community. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. The symptoms are usually gone after 24-48 hours. Gastrointestinal illness caused by norovirus is common. Norovirus is contagious. It spreads easily in enclosed areas where people congregate. People cleaning up after someone who has been sick with norovirus should take precautions to avoid becoming sick themselves. Wear gloves and a mask. Disinfect the contaminated area.
