Immunization Clinic

Immunizations are a great medical success story. Many serious diseases are now preventable by using routinely recommended vaccines. Prior to the introduction of immunizations, thousands of children died each year from these diseases and many who survive suffered from chronic health problems for the rest of their lives.

Immunization Facts:

· Immunizations are very safe

· Immunizations are very effective

· The germs that cause disease have not gone away. Disease outbreaks can and do occur in communities not protected by immunizations

· Due to the prevalence of international travel, serious vaccine-preventable diseases are only a plane ride away.

· Many of the diseases that vaccines prevent cannot be effectively treated or cured.

· Infants are more vulnerable to disease because their immune systems cannot easily fight off the bacteria and viruses that cause disease.

· The effects of disease are potentially more serious in infants than in older children and adults.

· Immunizations are important for adults as well as for children.
