Native American Outreach Program

Aanii! Welcome to the ICHD-Native American Outreach Program webpage. 

The Native American Outreach Program (NAOP) works with American Indian/Alaska Native and First Nations families and individuals within Ingham County to ensure an overall strong and healthy community.  

The NAOP can provide the following services to American Indian/Alaska Native and First Nations families within Ingham County:

  • Support and assistance in addressing various concerns.
  • Information targeted to women, children, and infants including information on prenatal development, child development, parenting education and connection to community resources for families and children.
  • Connection to community and community resources for adults and elders. 
  • Assistance in applying for medical insurance (Medicaid, Ingham Health Plan, and others) and establishing a connection to a medical home. 
  • Assistance in applying for appropriate community assistance programs (WIC, DHS)
  • Referrals for assistance with substance abuse, domestic violence issues, child abuse, veteran's benefits, legal assistance and more.

The NAOP also conducts presentations, trainings, and dialogues within the community regarding effective collaboration and cultural competency of the urban American Indian/Alaska Native and First Nations population.
