Now hiring AmeriCorps VISTA Members

Now hiring eight VISTAs to start service August 2019!



AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program that has been working to alleviate poverty in America since 1965.  VISTA’s serve 
full-time for one year at nonprofit organizations or local government agencies to build the capacity of these organizations to carry out programs that fight poverty.  AmeriCorps VISTA members recruit and manage community volunteers, raise funds, and help manage projects.  More specifically, the Power of We AmeriCorps VISTA Program focuses on building the capacity of organizations in the areas of Education, Economic Opportunity, and Healthy Futures.   
All AmeriCorps VISTA m
embers serve full-time (37-40 hours per week) from 
August 5, 2019 to August 4, 2020.  

Benefits of Service:
Living Allowance of $12,311 (distributed biweekly)

WE ARE HIRING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:

PROGRAM SUPPORT SPECIALIST 
Edgewood Village Network Center
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will engage in academic, enrollment, and retention support activities for economically disadvantaged K-12 students to create a college-going culture and first generation college students to promote college success.  

NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTOR
Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement, City of Lansing
The AmeriCorps member will assist neighborhood organizations and citizens in Lansing in designing, resourcing, and implementing projects that benefit their community; support a communications strategy that reaches residents of the City's neighborhoods as well as local, regional, and national partners; and, cultivate partnerships among stakeholders, city agencies, nonprofit organizations, and block groups who can build capacity and serve as volunteers.  The VISTA will also support the Mayor's Neighborhood Advisory Board grant application process and the Citizen's Academy program.  

NEWCOMER OUTREACH AND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Refugee Development Center
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will serve to help ensure that Newcomer (refugee and immigrant) residents receive assistance with post-secondary education and implement post-secondary training curricula, specifically for culturally diverse audiences.   ​  

SHC SUPPORT SPECIALIST
MSU Student Housing Cooperative
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will assist the staff at the MSU Student Housing Cooperative (SHC) with documenting and increasing the impact and accountability of cooperatives as an economic development tool in Ingham County.  They will also be evaluating and recommending improvements to the governance, programs and activities, and models for economic democracy in the SHC.  

COLLEGE ACCESS SUPPORT COORDINATOR

The AmeriCorps VISTA member will serve to increase the number of low-income, minority, and first generation students who apply to and complete college and post-secondary programs.  The member will also assist the executive director and action teams to create and sustain organizational capacity to establish CapCAN as the premiere school and community based college access program in Ingham County.  

LABORATORY PARTNER
Community-AID Laboratory
The Community-AID Laboratory is looking for 2 members to serve at their site to build the capacity of the organizations to support community-based organizations.  The VISTA members will also support the daily operations of ongoing community-engaged projects that promote the well-being and educational success of children, youth, and families.  

POWER OF WE AMERICORPS VISTA LEADER
Power of We, Ingham County Health Department

The AmeriCorps VISTA Leader will support the Power of We AmeriCorps VISTA team through the year of service as they build capacity and sustainability at their service sites.  The  VISTA Leader will support the VISTA project and enhance its effectiveness, stability, and sustainability; assist in the development and coordination of trainings and service events for professional development; and, assist in the development of a recruitment plan and materials.  In order to apply for this role, you must have already served at least one year in AmeriCorps VISTA, State or National, or NCC.
