LANSING, Mich. – Community organizations and businesses have come together to help local children get ready for the new school year with health screenings, giveaways, resources and fun at the Back to School Health Fair, August 22-26.
Who: Families with children of all ages are invited to this free event.
What: Children who attend can receive vision, hearing and lead screenings at no cost. Fluoride varnishes will be available on Thursday morning from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and immunizations are available by appointment, (517) 887-4350. The event includes special giveaways and activities. Parents/Guardians can receive information about preschool and access information about resources such as play groups and more.
Partners in attendance include the Capital Area District Library offering a bookmobile on Monday, the Lansing Garden Project and the Home Depot offering a garden project on Tuesday, PNC Bank’s Mobile Learning Adventure on Wednesday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation offering an obstacle course on Thursday, and the YMCA providing outside activities and the ICHD Maternal and Child Health Division offering car seat checks on Friday.
