3rd Annual Back to School Backpack Event – Monday, August 12, 2013, 2:00 to 5:00 pm, UAW Local 602, Lansing – The UAW Region 1-C Women’s Council will be having their 3rd Annual Back to School Backpack event at the UAW Local 602 hall for area low income families. Entertainment will be provided for the children outside with games and prizes, while parents will have the opportunity to go inside and learn about different community resources.

5th Annual Back to School Fair - Week of August 19, hours below. Free and reduced cost health screenings, including: immunizations (pls schedule, 517-887-4350, limited walk-ins), vision, hearing, lead-testing, fluoride varnish. 2013 Annual Community Connect – Friday, September 20, 2013, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, 2500 South Washington Street In the former National Guard Armory Lansing. The event is a day for community organizations to provide outreach, education about available human resources, and direct services to homeless and underserved individuals in our community.

2013 Community Celebration & Body Walk – Saturday, August 24, 2013, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, New Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 3800 W. Miller, Lansing – This is an annual event that focuses on making healthy choices, doing healthy activities and healthy living for a healthy body. Food, games, healthy activities and school supplies will be available.

13th Annual Mayor’s Capital Area Senior Activities Fair – Thursday, August 29, 2013, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Gardner Middle School, 333 Dahlia Drive, Lansing – This events gives agencies and organizations a chance to share valuable information and materials with Lansing Area seniors.

Martin Luther Chapel East Lansing Health Fair – Sunday, September 15, 2013, Martin Luther Chapel, 444 Abbot Road, East Lansing – This indoor and outdoor event will be open to the general public, students and families with 200 expected.

Community Resource Luncheon – Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Michigan Athletic Club, East Lansing – Staff from the Sparrow Physicians Health Network will visit with local community resource organizations to get a quick snap shot of what resources are available in the Greater Lansing area. Practices will have a limited amount of time to visit with each organization representatives. Tables will be provided at this free event.

MSU Nursing Career Fair, Thursday, October 17, 2013, MSU Spartan Stadium, East Lansing – This event is designed to connect employers with qualified students to fill open positions and to provide a venue for students to explore the varied opportunities that are available to them in the nursing field. Event schedule: Recruiter check-in (4:00 – 6:00 pm), Dinner for Employers (4:30 – 6:00 pm), Career Fair (6:00 to 8:00 pm).

2013 Peer Michigan Conference, – DATE CHANGED to Monday, October 29, 2013 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm for the Health Passport Health Fair, Best Western Hotel, 6820 S. Cedar Street, Lansing – This is an integrated conference focusing on youth mental health, developmental disabilities co-occurring with mental health, and mental health. This conference is for mental health and substance use providers, peer support recovery coaches, mentors and specialists, and mental health service users. Lunch will be provided.
